The online news portal claims that the Saudi Pro League outfit are hopeful of announcing the deal by the weekend at the very latest.

Henderson missed Liverpool’s pre-season friendlies against Karlsruher SC and Greuther Furth in Germany after Jurgen Klopp’s side agreed a deal in principle worth £12m plus add-ons to sell the England midfielder to Al-Ettifaq.

The 33-year-old left the Reds’ camp in Germany and travelled back to the United Kingdom to finalise the move. He has already undergone his medical and will put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s outfit and earn a weekly salary of £350,000.

He will join his new Al-Ettifaq teammates in Croatia for pre-season if everything goes through without any last-minute hitches – bringing his 12-year stay at the club to an end.

The long-serving skipper racked up 492 appearances across all competition, scoring 33 goals and recording 61 assists in the process. He lifted the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Carabao Cup as captain of the club.

Meanwhile, Fabinho’s move to Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia is in jeopardy but negotiations and conversations are continuing, with Al Ittihad’s keen on getting the deal done soon.

The delay in the process means that the Brazilian is set to resume pre-season preparations with Liverpool on Wednesday unless a breakthrough can be made in advance.

Liverpool have already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai following the losses of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner, however, the Merseysiders are still in the market to make further midfield reinforcements.

The Reds have opened talks with Southampton to sign highly-rated midfielder Romeo Lavia. The club are ready to submit an initial bid of £35m for the 19-year-old who has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

Klopp is confident the club would add at least one more midfielder to their squad before their Premier League opener against Chelsea on August 13.
