Liverpool could make a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich this summer after the 28-year-old is not considered unsellable at the club, according to Kicker via Get German Football News.
The Reds are in the market to bolster their midfield following the exit of Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after their contracts expired last month.
Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been added to Jurgen Klopp’s squad but at least two more midfielders are expected to move to Anfield before the transfer window closes in September.
Several midfielders have been linked with a move to the Reds including Kalvin Phillips, Romeo Lavia, Ryan Gravenberch, Sofyan Amrabat, Cheick Doucoure, and recently Teun Koopmeiners.
Kimmich is now on the transfer market and Kicker claims that only a lucrative offer would force Bayern into selling him. He is valued at £64m (€75m) by Bayern which represents a cheaper option taking into consideration his enormous experience and versatility.
The Germany international joined The Bavarians from RB Leipzig in 2015 and has since gone on to feature in 347 games, scored 40 times, and recorded 94 assists across all competitions.
He has helped Bayern Munich win several titles including the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, DFL-Supercup, Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
Last season, he made 18 goal contributions in 47 appearances as Bayern clinched their 10th successive league title – beating Borussia Dortmund on the final day of the campaign.
Kimmich’s remaining contract with Bayern will expire in 2025 and there have been no contract extension talks so far between the player and the club, hence there is a possibility he could be offloaded this summer as Thomas Tuchel continues to reshape his team for next season.
