Joao Cancelo is set to leave Manchester City in this transfer window, and Barcelona will be the club he joins. The deal is expected to be completed now in the final days of the transfer window. Joao Cancelo will finally be a Barca player. He was always the player Xavi wanted this summer.
Cancelo has been deemed surplus to requirements this summer at City after a falling out with Pep Guardiola last season. There was no chance of the relationship repairing this summer.
Barca are in control of the deal, and are confident it will be completed.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Joao Cancelo will join Barcelona in the final days of the transfer window this summer.
The deal is hinging on Financial Fair Play giving the green light. All parties are now waiting for that green light before a deal is finalised.
Xavi demanded the club sign Cancelo after the sale of Ousmane Dembele. He was the prime target for the remainder of the window.
Cancelo is waiting for Barcelona. He is happy to move to Spain after a loan at Bayern Munich last summer. There was never a chance of Cancelo going back to Bayern.
