Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Trent Alexander-Arnold as they keep a close eye on his contract situation at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold’s future at Anfield has become the subject of surprising speculation.

Last summer, Alexander-Arnold was bestowed with the role of vice-captain following the departures of Jordan Henderson and James Milner.

Although Virgil van Dijk assumed the captain’s armband for this season, the 25-year-old has served as his deputy.

However, Alexander-Arnold’s recent struggles with a knee injury have limited his playing time since the beginning of the year.

Having missed 12 matches, he has not featured since being substituted at half-time during Liverpool’s Premier League encounter against Burnley on February 10.

According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, “Real Madrid are monitoring Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool.”

However, Liverpool have not indicated any desire to sell one of the best right-backs in the world at this stage and there’s no indication of the player’s views so far.

Compounding the uncertainty surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future is the fact that he is now in the final 18 months of his contract, set to expire in 2025.

Consequently, speculation abounds regarding the trajectory of the Liverpool academy graduate’s career.

Upon his official arrival from Bournemouth, new sporting director Richard Hughes is likely to prioritise discussions surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future.
