Liverpool duo Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are unhappy with the handling of Jurgen Klopp’s departure from the club by the board.
According to FootballTransfers, both players feel they’ve been misled by the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp announced in January that he would step down from his role as Liverpool manager in the summer, a decision that took many by surprise.
It is believed that senior Anfield players did have a hint that the former Mainz and Borussia Dortmund boss was considering leaving the club.
This awareness stemmed from informal discussions held in Singapore during the club’s pre-season tour.
However, newer signings like Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai, who joined on long contracts in 2022 and 2023 respectively, were not part of these conversations.
Reports suggest that both Nunez and Szoboszlai were taken aback by the announcement, with sources stating that they “hit the roof” upon learning the news.
Additionally, it is believed that Ryan Gravenberch is also unhappy with the turn of events.
While these players have been left unsettled by Klopp’s imminent departure and the manner in which it has been handled by the Liverpool board, it is not expected to significantly impact their long-term future at the club.
Nunez and Szoboszlai have no immediate plans to discuss their positions with their agents or review their status with the Reds, especially given the absence of a clear succession plan for Klopp.
Both players remain content to stay with the club for the time being.
However, it’s undeniable that Klopp was a significant factor in attracting both Nunez and Szoboszlai to Liverpool, and his departure has raised questions about their long-term commitment to the club.
Despite the uncertainty, both Nunez and Szoboszlai have endeared themselves to the Anfield faithful during their time at the club.
As Klopp seeks to sign off in spectacular fashion by winning a Premier League, Europa League, and Carabao Cup treble, the duo’s contributions on the pitch will undoubtedly be crucial.
