New summer signing Alexis Mac Allister is delighted with Liverpool’s pre-season training camp in Germany as the Reds gear up for the start of the 2023/24 season.

Jurgen Klopp’s ended their tour with a 4-4 draw against Greuther Furth on Monday afternoon.

Luis Diaz opened the scoring for Liverpool midway through the first half but the goal was cancelled out by Julian Green’s equaliser in the 47th minute.

Darwin Nunez then bagged a brace to give the Merseysiders a 3-1 lead but goals from Lukas Petkov and Armindo Sieb (two) had the German outfit in front heading into the final stages of the contest.

Mohamed Salah denied Greuther Furth a victory as the 31-year-old converted from close range to secure a draw for Liverpool.

Mac Allister told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: “It’s a pre-season game. Of course we always want to win, but that’s not the most important thing. We know we have to improve in a couple of things but it’s good to get some minutes in the tank.

“There is a lot of positive things [to take from the camp]. I am a new player so I still have to know my teammates, their strengths and their weaknesses, but I think there are really good players here and we can build something important.

“The welcome from the team was amazing and they are helping me every day so I can do my best on the pitch, so it’s a really good team. We all try to help each other inside the pitch and that’s very important for our goal, and we will try our best to do a very good season.”

On his fitness levels after the pre-season camp, he added: “Yes of course, of course. It’s a tough pre-season but we all know that this part is very important for the season. So as you can see, three sessions is not easy every day but we are doing it as well and overall it’s a very good pre-season.”

“We know that as Liverpool players there is a lot of people that is waiting for us so Singapore will be another great experience for us, with two games, very important. So as I say, we will try to improve every day and I think it will be a very good two games there,” he concluded.
