There is plenty of interest surrounding Nat Phillips ahead of the the transfer deadline day and Championship club Middlesbrough are one of the sides wanting to sign him according to The Athletic.

Liverpool are happy to let go of Phillips either on a permanent deal or another loan for the season.

At 26-years-old it is unlikely that he has a future at Liverpool after making 29 first team appearances for them since 2020.

He has seemingly lost his spot in the pecking order as well due to the emergence of Jarell Quansah who made his Premier League debut in the last gasp victory at Newcastle.

Why hasn’t Phillips left yet?

Leeds United had a strong interest at the start of the transfer window however that appears to have died down.

Dutch club Feyenoord were also thinking about making a move for him but they have seemingly dropped their interest too.

Middlesbrough have had a poor start to the season after many thought they may kick in after a fantastic back end of the 2022/23 campaign thanks to manager Michael Carrick.

However they currently sit 22nd in the Championship table so they are in need of defensive reinforcements.

There are other clubs also supposedly interested in him but they have not been named yet.

He has two years left on his contract and Liverpool will be hoping that he will impress so that they can demand a transfer fee before he leaves for nothing.
