Liverpool have intensified their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga ahead of the summer transfer window, as per El Nacional.

According to the Spanish online news portal, the Reds are prepared to compete with Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United for the 21-year-old’s signature.

Camavinga, who made the move to Carlo Ancelotti’s side from Rennes at the age of 18 in the summer of 2021, recently extended his contract with the La Liga giants, committing to the club until 2029.

The French midfielder has amassed 121 appearances for Real Madrid, featuring 22 times this season. The team currently hold the second position in the La Liga table with 51 points, just one point behind the leaders Girona, who have played one more game.

Camavinga achieved success early in his career, winning six trophies in his first two seasons in Spain, including the prestigious Champions League in 2021-22.

Making headlines in September 2020, Camavinga became the youngest senior France international in 106 years, debuting in a Uefa Nations League victory over Croatia at the age of 17 years and nine months.

His journey began when he became the youngest Rennes debutant at 16 years and four months in April 2019.

With 12 caps for his country, Camavinga also made a substitute appearance in France’s World Cup final defeat against Argentina in December.

During the last season, the versatile midfielder was often deployed as a makeshift left-back, struggling to secure a regular starting position in the midfield. Despite this, Arsenal showed interest in Camavinga last summer, but his agent downplayed the possibility of a move to the Emirates Stadium.

“There’s no truth in that,” Joshua Barnett told Fabrizio Romano.

“Of course, every club in the world would want him, but he’s very happy in Real Madrid and Real Madrid are very happy with Camavinga.”

Recent reports suggest that Camavinga is reportedly tempted to leave Real Madrid, having received formal proposals from both Liverpool and Arsenal to make a move at the end of the season.

El Nacional has indicated that the Frenchman is facing the enticing prospect of two offers in England, raising the possibility of a departure from Real Madrid.

The allure of these proposals has added an interesting twist to Camavinga’s future in the upcoming transfer window.

The report added that: “Klopp considers the ex-Stade Rennais a necessary addition and hopes to be able to seduce him to finish at Anfield, promising him that he will be one of the leaders of the project, and he will receive an astronomical salary.

“Liverpool is the team that intends to try its luck, and that can pay around 100 million euros, at the request of Jurgen Klopp.

“In addition to the Reds, Arsenal are also very interested in Camavinga, and will fight for him to leave Madrid, and be under the command of Mikel Arteta.”
