Liverpool have reportedly started negotiations for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga after initially being linked with him earlier on in the summer.

The Spanish youngster had some of the biggest sides in Europe wanting him but that interest had seemingly cooled after he barely featured for Spain in the Under 21 European Championships.

However Liverpool have supposedly reignited their interest in the midfielder who played 36 league games last season and scored 11 goals.

Liverpool’s offer to tempt Celta Vigo to let him go is a fee of 25 million euros plus giving him back to the club on loan for the 2023/24 season.

The Reds have already signed two attacking midfielders this summer in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai so adding another right now would be unnecessary hence why they would be open to loaning him back.

Also Thiago Alcantara will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the campaign so potentially Veiga may be seen as a replacement for the Spanish international.

Right now the priority for Liverpool is a defensive midfielder after they sold Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Saudi clubs Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq respectively.

They have had bids rejected for Romeo Lavia and are reportedly interested in Fluminense midfielder Andre.

A defender is also on the radar for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp looks to implement the new system for the whole season.
