Liverpool will not have it all their own way in the race to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield over recent days after a string of outstanding performances in Brazil’s Serie A.

It was confirmed by Melissa Reddy on Tuesday that the Reds hierarchy had approached Fluminense over the transfer of the Brazil international.

Reports of late however have suggested that they do not want to part with Andre until the end of the season, this winter. That would mean he would not be available this summer unless a premium is paid to the Brazilian club.

According to A BOLA (via LFC Transfer Room), Liverpool are set to be joined in the race for the talented midfielder by Sporting CP.

The outlet claims that the Primeira Liga club are interested in taking him to Portugal despite knowing it will not be easy to beat the Reds to a deal for the midfielder.

The matter is complicated further by the fact that the transfer window in Brazil closes today (August 2nd) leaving Fluminense with no time to seek a replacement.
