Spanish giants Barcelona are close to bringing Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo to the club according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Portuguese international has got no future at City under Pep Guardiola after he fell out with his boss back in January hence why he was shifted out on loan to Bayern Munich.

He didn’t impress enough at the German club to warrant them making the move permanent so he arrived back in Manchester for pre-season and even though he did get some minutes he is now on the verge of leaving on loan again.

This time it is another European giant who are going to bring him in and it is La Liga Champions Barcelona.

The negotiations between the two clubs are advanced but there is still some key details to iron out.

There is no agreement on the salary coverage yet and a loan fee hasn’t been agreed but things are moving quickly so it should be sorted out soon.

Cancelo only wants to join Xavi at Barcelona as he is not negotiating with any other club.

The loan deal will include a buy option but it will not be mandatory just like the deal Bayern Munich had.

Barcelona started their La Liga title defence with a 0-0 draw to Getafe and will be hoping to pick up their first three points of the season against Cadiz.

The hope will be shortly after that game Cancelo will officially be a Barcelona player.
