Following the departure of Jack Butland, Manchester United would have David de Gea, Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton as their selective goalkeepers next season. However, Henderson looks destined to depart Old Trafford.
Whilst de Gea hasn’t yet extended his contract there is no indication that Henderson will take his spot next season. In fact it seems as though Henderson‘s departure has been in the pipeline for some months.
The young English keeper spent the season on loan at Nottingham Forest but suffered an injury halfway through the season. However Henderson is said to be happy at the club and the club would also like to secure his services on a permanent deal.
Some reports have indicated that United would use the money collected from the sale of Henderson to fund the signing of a new goalkeeper. This has not been yet made clear whether it will be a new first choice keeper or a back up.
United could collect between £20-£30million from the sale of Henderson which would then be added to their summer budget. And the report from talkSPORT states that Nottingham Forest are in advanced talks to complete the permanent signing of Henderson.
