Liverpool’s recent triumph in the Carabao Cup has sparked discussions within the club’s top echelons about organising a special open-top bus parade at the end of the season to bid farewell to Jürgen Klopp, according to The Telegraph.

This would be an unconventional move for a club of the Reds’ stature, as such celebrations are typically reserved for FA Cups, Champions League, or title victories rather than League Cup successes.

Despite the departure of Klopp being on the horizon in May, the presence of silverware has added weight to the idea of a grand celebration.

The club is reportedly contemplating seeking permission from city council leaders to proceed with the parade.

While winning additional major trophies in the coming months could make a parade almost obligatory, the club recognises the global support for Klopp and the desire of fans from around the world to express gratitude for his exceptional service since his appointment in 2015.

The emotional farewell for Klopp is expected to attract more supporters than Anfield’s capacity allows, with only 60,000 fortunate enough to secure seats for his final home game in May.

The potential scale of the celebration is reminiscent of the massive turnout in 2019 when Liverpool won the Champions League, drawing 750,000 fans to the city’s streets.

Liverpool, however, emphasises that no final decision has been made, and plans could be influenced by the team’s progress in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Additionally, Klopp’s agreement to the parade proposal would be crucial. Despite reluctantly agreeing to share the duties of collecting the League Cup with Virgil van Dijk, Klopp remains steadfast in his decision to step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season.

While the recent triumph is deemed the most ‘special’ of his career, Klopp is resolute in taking at least a year-long break, leaving Liverpool with the challenging task of finding his successor.
