Fabio Carvalho has confirmed his intention to rejoin Liverpool this summer and shared his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp’s impending departure.

Carvalho faced challenges in his debut season with the Reds following his transfer from Fulham in 2022.

He made only 22 appearances across all competitions, with 13 in the Premier League, scoring three goals.

After just one season at Anfield, Carvalho was loaned out to RB Leipzig last summer.

However, his stint in Germany was short-lived, leading to his return to Liverpool and subsequent loan to Hull City in the Championship for the latter half of the season.

During his time at Hull City, Carvalho has found the net four times in 11 appearances and aims to help the club secure a Championship playoff spot.

As the season draws to a close, attention naturally turns to Carvalho’s plans for the summer.

In an interview with Portuguese news outlet A Bola, the 21-year-old disclosed his intentions for the future.

He confirmed his return to Liverpool for pre-season training but did not elaborate on what may follow beyond that.

“Yes! I’m going back in pre-season,” Carvalho confirmed.

He added: “It was good. He [Klopp] helped me. But when I arrived at the club, we were in a very difficult period, on and off the field.

“There were problems with the team and he needed to turn to the players he trusted most. I had just arrived and he didn’t have the greatest confidence in me, but he always helped me a lot and pointed out what I needed to do better and what I shouldn’t do.

“But we had players there with a lot of experience, who were playing very well, even though the team was not at its best. I was there to learn and continue training.”

On Jurgen Klopp’s decision to leave the club at the end of the season, he said: “Yes, a little. He [Klopp] loves Liverpool, the club also likes him a lot and the fans love him.

“So he surprised me. But these are football things. Everything good comes to an end.”
