Chelsea are likely to dip into the market again this winter transfer window, and Jean-Clair Todibo is a player the club have identified as a target. Manchester United have been linked with Todibo for some time, but as of now have not approached Nice with any sort of offer for the French defender.

This news comes after Tottenham Hotspur made an approach to Nice for Todibo last week. The deal however wasn’t moving quick enough for Spurs, who wanted a defender in by next week at the latest. They are moving closer to signing Genoa centre-back Radu Dragusin.

As reported by Santi Aouna, Chelsea have made contact with OGC Nice over signing Jean-Clair Todibo in the winter window. United are yet to reply to this as of yet, and are unlikely to spend big in the window.

United however do have the upper hand in any deal regarding Todibo due to Sir Jim Ratcliffe owning OGC Nice. It would be an easy deal to do for United, but they aren’t in the race just yet.

Spurs felt the deal wasn’t moving quite as quick as they wanted this week and went elsewhere. Chelsea are unlikely to be in a major hurry for Todibo, and may be able to negotiate at a pace that suits the French club a bit more.

Todibo was open to a move to Spurs as he seeks a Premier League move, so it’s likely a move to Chelsea will also appeal to him. United have been a club he’s been open to joining since the summer, but the two have never entered into negotiations.

Chelsea have other targets for the centre-back spot, with Ousmane Diomande from Sporting being a target they could also move for.
