Liverpool have announced that Jordan Henderson has completed his transfer to Al-Ettifaq.

News broke just under two weeks ago that Steven Gerrard’s club were interested in signing the 33-year-old.

After he was reported to have agreed personal terms, initially there was no agreement in place between the two clubs with Al-Ettifaq trying to secure the England international on a free transfer.

Reds chiefs stood firm, however, determined to get a fair price for their skipper with a fee of £12million plus add-ons eventually agreed

Liverpool confirmed Henderson’s departure via their digital channels, bringing an end to his 12-year stay at Anfield.

He was signed from Sunderland by Sir Kenny Dalglish in the summer of 2011 and went on to make 492 appearances and score 33 goals for the club.

Henderson became Liverpool’s new captain after the departure of Gerrard in 2015 and played a huge role in the success under Jurgen Klopp which saw the team win the European Cup and first league title for 30 years.
