Liverpool are one of three Premier League clubs chasing Fluminense midfielder Andre according to a report.

The 22-year-old pledged his immediate future to the Serie A club last summer due to their chances in the Copa Libertadores, despite reported interest from the Reds at the time.

He proved pivotal in his team’s run to the final where they beat Boca Juniors after extra time in an entertaining match on Saturday.

Liverpool To Face Competition For Andre?

Speculation has ramped up since then that he and other Fluminense players are on the radar of European clubs and according to geglobo (via LFC Transfer Room), Liverpool, Fulham, and Arsenal have an interest in Andre ahead of the transfer window re-opening in January.

Jurgen Klopp oversaw the biggest midfield rebuild during his tenure at Anfield during the summer when he signed Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.

There is a feeling however that the German is still one defensive midfielder short of completing that rebuild and Andre could fit the bill.

The Brazilian outlet also claims that Fluminense will expect a transfer fee in excess of £30million to secure the services of the Brazilian international.

The Transfer Room Verdict

Links between Andre and Liverpool persist but there are no guarantees that a deal will be done for the talented midfielder.

It is rare that the Anfield hierarchy look to sign a player who hasn’t played in one of the big European leagues so must decide whether they are willing to take that gamble.

Any hesitancy therefore could give an advantage to rival clubs so Liverpool must act fast in the knowledge that they look destined to lose Thiago Alcantara at the end of the season when his contract expires.
