Manchester City are set to make a move for one of their top targets as they prepare to finally make an official bid for RB Leipzig move centre back Josko Gvardiol according to a report.

The Premier League Champions were expected to have a busy transfer window even though they had just won the treble however so far they have only acquired Chelsea midfielder Matteo Kovacic as they lost Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona after he rejected a new contract offer.

However they have not signed anyone else as of yet nor have they lost anymore of their star players but now they are not going to hang around as they will make a bumper offer for Croatian international Gvardiol.

The German club want to hold out for £86million for their talented defender after already losing attacking players Dominik Szoboszlai and Cristopher Nkunku to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

However City aren’t willing to pay that amount for him and their first offer is going to be lower than that to start the negotiations but personal terms are not going to be a problem as they have already been verbally agreed between the club and the player.

Liverpool had been rumoured to be making a move for Gvardiol which has rushed Manchester City into making their bid for the defender who may possibly be made the most expensive defender on the planet if this deal goes through.

Pep Guardiola will be sticking with his system which has four centre-backs in it going into the new season so Gvardiol may be used at left-back as well as in central areas.
