Crystal Palace will not sell midfielder Cheick Doucoure for reportedly less than £70 million as Liverpool way up their options going into the last week of the transfer window.

The Reds have been looking for defensive midfielders ever since they sold Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to the Saudi Arabian Pro League.

Their two main targets were Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo however both midfielders opted to join Chelsea over Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

After that Stuttgart and Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo was signed but it remains to be seen whether he will be the first choice player to sit in front of the defence.

Doucoure has emerged as Liverpool’s biggest target if rumours were to be believed but due to how long is left in the transfer window Palace have put a big price tag on him.

They will fight to keep the Mali international at Selhurst Park and will only start negotiations with an offer beginning with £70 million.

He has played the full game in both of Crystal Palace’s games so far which has led to one win and one loss.

The Reds have only seen Endo for one half after he was rushed on against Bournemouth due to the red card to Alexis Mac Allister.

Ryan Gravenberch is another midfielder who has been consistently linked to Liverpool but he is a more attacking minded midfielder than Doucoure.
