Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with an impressive 4-1 victory over rivals Chelsea at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Following this result, the Reds are now five points clear of both Arsenal and Manchester City, who secured wins against Nottingham Forest and Burnley, respectively.
The scoring opened with a goal from Diogo Jota, giving Jurgen Klopp’s side an early lead. Conor Bradley then contributed by scoring his first goal for the club, doubling Liverpool’s advantage.
Despite the commanding performance, Liverpool missed the opportunity to go 3-0 up at halftime when Darwin Nunez hit the post from the penalty spot after Jota was fouled.
In the second half, Dominik Szoboszlai and Luis Diaz found the net on either side of a consolation goal from Christopher Nkunku for Chelsea. The comprehensive win solidifies Liverpool’s position at the top of the league, showcasing their attacking prowess and defensive stability.

Damon: The performance was near perfect. It was sensational. From minute one we gave it to them and they couldn’t handle it. We can avoid the concedes goal certainly but we can live with that. The only thing we were missing was a Nunez goal. Every player in red was incredible. Chelsea fans need reminding where they are sometimes. Hope they have a lovely day.
Jürgen Klopp reached 200 Premier League wins in just 318 games against the Blues. He’s going to be a huge loss for the club when he leaves at the end of the season.
Damon: I don’t think I could sum up what Jurgen Klopp means to us in this answer. Have you got a few days? He is the reason. He is the reason why we have won what we have won in the last 5 years. He is the reason why Liverpool fans have brief again. He is the reason why we have seen some of the best football in our lifetimes as Liverpool fans. The players are playing for him right now. He is the reason.
Conor Bradley showcased his playmaking abilities with four assists in as many appearances across all competitions, prompting speculation about his role compared to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s. The question arises whether Alexander-Arnold should be concerned about his starting position.
Damon: Bradley has been absolutely faultless. It’s definitely given Klopp something to think about. The whole ‘Trent needs to not come back in’ statement however is ridiculous. Are we going to act like Trent wasn’t the most in-form player in the league and is on for the Player of the Year? Bradley doesn’t deserve to be dropped, but Trent is Trent. Bradley will be rested. Let’s say that.
Looking ahead, Liverpool’s next challenge is against Arsenal on Sunday. The looming question is whether Klopp will maintain the same lineup that proved successful in their recent victory.
Damon: I would go with the same lineup bar Trent coming in as previous answer. I would, however, put Nunez back onto the left and Diaz outright.
